Bad Auntie

Well, first of all, today is my nephew's birthday. I didn't call. Sorry Ethan, Happy 2nd Birthday. If it helps I was thinking of him all day. Another month has passed and I haven't blogged. What can I say, the start of school just threw me for a loop. I am still all out of sorts, but I am acclimating as best I can.

Miss M had a great birthday bash on Saturday and is now the proud owner of a Pikachu blanket.

My little Pearlies loved it, even if they haven't a clue about who Pikachu is. Bean wants to go play Pokemon with Miss M. I'm sure they'll have fun, but I don't think we're ready to introduce that show yet.

Let's see, what else have I been up to... Lots of baby hats for the hospital. I've been making more orange pumpkin hats with little green stems and leaves. I think they're kind of cute, even if they're quite garrish.

Beana's socks may be Baybah's socks at the rate that kid's feet are growing. I bought a pair of size 11 sandles in the middle of August, so she'd have room to grow. Her feet fit them quite well now. Should have bought a bigger size. There was no way to know it happened so fast. The bamboo dpns are driving me nuts, hence the slow down on the socks. The bamboo warms up so fast and then they get very sticky with the yarn. I'm not happy. All metal dpns for me in the future. I just picked up a set of aluminum dpns today that are size 2 (2.75 mm). I'll definitely use these for the next socks.

I still have yellow Cottontots mill ends leftover from the Pikachu blanket. I had 1 lb. 9 oz. and I'm guessing I used about 1 lb. 3-5 oz. I'm using the leftovers to make a little baby sweater from Itty Bitty Nursery by Susan B. Anderson that the lovely Kim sent to me. It's a cute little hoodie with circles on it. I'm going to nix the circles (because my embroidery is kind of sucky), and improvise a set of hoodie pockets for the front. At least I hope I am. The baby isn't due until Dec 24, so at least I have time. I have to keep plugging along on this to get it done. It really is going quickly, it's just that I want to make this:

Ever since I saw this I wanted to make it. Now I'm not a puffed-sleeves or a short-sleeves kind of gal, but I just love this sweater. It's a modification of Stephanie Japel's Mini Sweater. The original is not something I would wear, but the changes I adore. I found a lovely purple, green and goldish varigate at Tuesday Morning of all places. It's Queensland Collection Bengali color # 6 - 55% wool, 45% acrylic.

I really want to make this sweater, but I've committed myself to making the baby sweater first. Too many works in progress give me the hee-bee-geebies. I only work on the socks at night, so that doesn't plague me. And the baby hats and toasty toes items are my portable projects, they don't get on my nerves either. But I don't like having too much more going on at once.

I started, but stopped and frogged the Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn vest. I need a quiet well-lit place to be by myself and knit ribbing on that level. I cast on almost 300 sts and I just need to focus to get past the first few rows. No noise, no kids, no radio, no nothing. I haven't found that place yet.

Oh, and in the midst of all of this I got my Ravelry invite. I wish I could say I was doing more with it than I am, but oh well. I think it's great.

With that I'm going to get going so I can work on the baby sweater. The sooner it is done, the sooner I will work on my not so mini sweater.

Do you possibly have a pattern for your Pokemon blanket? It's awesome, and I have a 6 yr. old nephew that would DIE for it!
